CircularPort
CircularPort
Extending traceability of port beyond the port for greener & circular ports
Ports are crucial players in the circular economy. Both port facilities and vessels generate waste that must be managed to maximize circularity, contributing to greener, more sustainable ports. Through initiatives like Circularport, ports gain blockchain-certified information on the final destination of the waste they produce, as well as insights into the sustainability impact of its treatment. This project is also of particular interest to recycling companies, providing them with a direct connection to ports and the ability to certify the origin of the materials they receive.

Project Goals
🌍Improve traceability and transparency
🌍Compliance with sustainability standards
🌍Ensure the quality and origin of second-hand parts
🌍Promote a circular economy

CircularPort Project Benefits
CircularPort Project Benefits
Waste Traceability and Origin Certification
Enables full traceability of waste from its generation at the port to its final treatment, using digital passports to certify the origin of recycled materials.
Real-Time Sustainability Dashboard
Provides ports with a real-time dashboard to monitor the environmental impact of their waste beyond port facilities.
Regulatory Compliance and Recycler Connectivity
Ensures compliance with MARPOL regulations and creates a seamless link between ports and recycling companies, supporting a more effective circular economy.

Our Collaboration
Our Collaboration
Circularport extends traceability and sustainability insights from the initial waste discharge at the port to the final recycled product. By utilizing digital waste passports, the platform captures and records comprehensive origin data for each material, ensuring transparency throughout its journey.
This data is then conveyed seamlessly from the point of discharge to the final product, enabling stakeholders to monitor the entire lifecycle of materials. By offering real-time visibility and verifiable data, Circularport helps port authorities, recycling facilities, and manufacturers optimize resource recovery, reduce waste, and meet regulatory requirements, ultimately driving a more sustainable circular economy.
The Solution
The Solution
Digital waste passports are created for waste documented in MARPOL receipts completed by shipping agents. These passports are subsequently linked to those of new materials produced by the recycler Adalmo, allowing Adalmo to certify the origin of the recycled materials supplied to its clients, primarily manufacturers.
The Port of the Balearic Islands benefits from a sustainability dashboard, providing insights into the impact of its waste beyond the port. This includes data on the final environmental impact, based on the recovery and valorization of waste after processing by the recycler
